Automotive Electronics More Popular Now |
 |
Mike Jessup's brother, Jim, operates
the automotive electronics business
across the street. As Jim puts it, "if
it's electronic we handle it." Jim has
built his service business installing all
kinds of electronic devices and with
18 years experience he has become a
real sleuth at finding and fixing those
mysterious electrical problems that
drive people crazy. He says it's really
just a matter of patience and
determination. |

| The business has evolved from
installing security systems and highend
audio systems to a big variety of
new technologies for the automobile.
In the past few years the market has
expanded to include satellite radio,
video systems, remote starting
systems, and LED lighting effects. |
Jim has been installing Sirius Satellite
Radio systems and plans to add
XMRadio soon. Once you have the
equipment, service involves payment
of a low monthly subscription. |

Remote starting is another popular
convenience. These systems provide
a remote switch to start your car
from up to 1,000 feet away. In
winter, you can start the car and
warm it up while you are still having
breakfast. "Actually, people enjoy
this convenience all year round," Jim
explained.
Small-screen video is popular with
parents of young children. It keeps
the kids well occupied and helps relieve
the stress of taking them on long trips. |

Throw away the old compass that
points north. Jim also installs GPS
systems that show drivers exactly where
they are on a video screen map and
how to find unfamiliar destinations. |
And don't forget those glamorizing LED
lighting effects. There's nothing quite like
them to show off your car at night. |
